Black Chocolate Sticky Rice with Berries for breakfast
Oh, I love those moments when I have a little inspiration to try something new that sounds perfect in my head and then tastes delicious in real life. That’s exactly how this recipe for black chocolate sticky rice with berries sprouted. I was sitting with my business partner in a restaurant in Hamburg after the Dein Kakao trade fair, and we ate some really tasty mango sticky rice with black rice. And we both couldn’t get enough of it. It was just sooo, sooo good. I realized how much I like black sticky rice and that it would be perfect for creating a breakfast variation. Et voilà, this recipe was born. Here we go!

- 1 tbsp agave syrup optional
Topping
- 100 g plant-based yoghurt
- 200 g berries
- 20 g cacao nibs
- 20 g granola or muesli
- some fresh mint
Prepare rice

Firstly, wash the rice thoroughly in a sieve. Then leave it to soak in a bowl covered with water for at least 30 minutes.
-
Then rinse the rice again properly under clean water.

Black sticky rice with cacao and berries keeps you satiated for a very long time
I have to admit that there is hardly a breakfast recipe that keeps me satiated for such a long period as this black chocolate porridge with berries. On the one hand, it is loaded with long-lasting, filling fibre. On the other hand, it is packed with long-chain carbohydrates. Both keep your blood sugar levels controlled and prevent energy lows and cravings. Did you know that black rice can contain up to four times as much fibre and antioxidants as white rice? You can find out more about the benefits of black rice here.
If you soak the rice the night before, the cooking time is reduced, and you don’t need to cook it for as long in the morning. After a few times, you will have the right feeling for when your rice is ready. You can also easily take it to work if you’re not a breakfast person and simply eat it during your lunch break. Of course, as always, I use my own cacao powder from Dein Kakao – what else!? 🥰
This time I used the hundert pro. I also used the vegan cooking cream from EDEKA as it is particularly light and low in calories (uncommissioned ad).
Be sure to wash the rice properly!
You must wash the rice properly, especially after swelling. The reason for this is that rice contains a lot of arsenic, which can be carcinogenic even in very small quantities. To get rid of this arsenic as efficiently as possible, you need to wash your rice thoroughly. Swelling also flushes some arsenic out of the rice grain, which you can also get rid of by washing it properly after swelling. Now nothing stands in the way of a perfect start to the day with this black sticky rice with cacao and berries, hell yeah! 🤤
