Running challenge – running for the forest in September 2023
I love challenges. And that’s why I like the idea of a running challenge. But what could be better than a running challenge that not only motivates you personally and is good for you, but also contributes to protecting our environment?
It runs in September #RunningForTheForest Running challenge and highlights the importance of our forests. Together with SAUBER ENERGIE you can make a contribution to the protection and renaturation of forest areas. Because for every kilometer you run, SAUBER ENERGIE invests one euro in a jungle project in the Eifel.
There are no costs for yourself, but the running challenge is worth it twice as much:
- for you and your health, your well-being and your time in nature
- for the environment because forest areas are protected and the issue comes to the fore

Why a running challenge?
Maybe you know this – you’re doing your runs, but you just don’t have the right bite at the moment? Or would you like to finally get started, but still need some additional motivation? Maybe you consciously realize that you need a goal or a challenge again, but you haven’t found the way yourself yet?
Then a running challenge is a great way to ignite your motivation and give your runs a deeper meaning.
I know this myself – I’ve been running for over a decade. There are always phases in which I just run and perhaps can’t motivate myself as well. With a running challenge like this I challenge myself more, get a new focus and a new task. This gives me an incredible amount of motivation and a good feeling!
Why run for the forest?
I think many runners agree with me when I say: the forest is a wonderful place. There is hardly any place in nature where I can switch off and enjoy my running kilometers better than in the forest.
But that’s not the only reason to run in the forest.
Did you know that the forest is incredibly important for nature and the environment? It is not only relevant as a habitat for numerous animals, but also for us humans.
Because the forest has numerous functions that we want to protect and honor with our running challenge:
- Climate regulation
- Water storage and water filters
- Air filter
- CO2 storage
- noise protection
- Recreation for people and animals
- Storm protection
- Protection against erosion
But many forests suffer from heavy management, long periods of drought alternating with heavy rainfall and heat. All of these are major threats to the forest, which can also have a long-term impact on the rest of life.
